Materials Used To Make Watches

Even though we use them every day, most people don't bother to think about how watches are made, or what materials are used to make them. When shopping for a watch we just choose the watch that fits our budget and lifestyle.

Nowadays, watchmakers have at their disposal a wide range of materials. Each material is highly appreciated by watchmakers for its own unique characteristics. Always thinking about the future, watchmakers spend a lot of their time experimenting with new types of materials

Many of today's watch manufacturers offer their timepieces in a choice of case metals. The three most common alloys used are high-grade stainless steel, eighteen Karat gold and platinum.

Stainless steel

Stainless Steel is the most common alloy used for watchcases today because of its durability and anti-erosion properties. It is a very hard metal, which is ideal for crafting professional sport watches such travel alarm watches, and sport chronographs. A watch made of steel is the practical choice for everyday use in contrast to precious metal watches, such as gold or platinum pieces. Which are usually regarded as dress watches.

Gold

Gold is the second most common metal used in watch making and is regarded as the classic choice for the finest watches. Although it is more malleable than stainless steel, eighteen karat gold is durable and well suited for watches. Eighteen Karat gold alloys can be formulated into three different colors, traditional yellow, pink/rose, or white.

Gold Plated

A gold plated watchcase is produced from a steel base and covered with a thin layer of Gold. This type of watch is obviously less expensive to make.

Platinum

Platinum the most exclusive metal used for watchcases. It is an extremely rare precious metal with excellent heat, wear and corrosion resistant properties, making it an ideal material for exquisite collectable timepieces.

There are other materials less commonly used to make watches, two of these are Titanium and Silicon.

Titanium - this is a white metal appreciated for its supreme durability.

Silicon- has the advantage that it eliminates the need for oil and theoretically reduces the amount of friction, thus prolonging the life of a watch movement.

When buying a watch for yourself you probably will not consciously think about what the watch is made of, you will just look for style and price to suit your needs. However if you are buying a watch for someone else as a gift, you may want that person to know it is a quality gift. In that case, it may matter to you what the watch is made of.

How To Play Movie On PSP: 2 Methods Exposed

There are 2 ways on how you can get to play movie on PSP. Both options have their own advantage and disadvantages and in all practicality you can use both methods.

Play Movie On PSP : Method #1

The first method requires the use of DVD ripper program. For those that don't know what DVD rippers are; they are programs that extract you existing DVD into your computer hard disk and reformatting those files into smaller manageable files. Other than that you must have these

o USB cable to connect your PSP to PC

o A big enough memory stick. I usually recommend nothing less than 512MB

o DVD converter. You can get free video converter at PSP Video 9. It converts
video files such as avi and mpeg into PSP playable file.

o Sufficient hard disk in your PC. 1 GB should be ample enough.

These method is on applicable to those that want to play their existing DVD and play movies on PSP.

1. All you have to do is insert your DVD into you DVD drive and run the DVD ripper program. Locate the video file you want to rip and hit the extract button. You will then be prompt as to where you want to store your file.

2. Once you got the ripped file, in order for you to play movie on PSP, you must convert the ripped file using the free PSP Video 9 program mentioned earlier. Specify the ripped file and convert / encode the file.

3. Now that you have the file on your computer, all you need to do is transfer the file from your PC to your PSP. This is the critical part of the whole operation. If you don't get this right, you won't be able to play movie on PSP. Create a folder named MP_ROOT100MNV01 in your PSP. Transfer your PSP movie file into the folder. Now you can enjoy the fruits of your labor.

The second method is much simpler but there is a downside to it. As always nothing is perfect.

Play Movie On PSP : The Easy Method #2

This method can be done by joining the numerous PSP download site available in the internet nowadays. Finding a download site is the easy part. Finding a good site is the tricky bit.

Ultimately this maybe the downfall of the second method, the download speed of the site. You don't want to wait too long for a download. If you have a dial-up connection (56K modem or less) to the internet, I would not recommend this method to you as it is time consuming.

The good thing about downloading from these membership site is that you don't have to do any DVD ripping which is in itself can be time consuming at the very best and downright frustrating if you don't get it right.

You just download and watch the movies. The only thing that will cost you is the lifetime membership charges. Look at it this way, by the time you download a full movie, you'll already cover the membership charges and you can download unlimited number of files and have access to games cheat, review and get free PSP tools too.

You can always store your movie files on your PC and download the movie onto your memory stick if you want to watch them.

These are two ways to get to play movie on PSP apart from your usual UMD disc which can sometime blow a hold through your wallet. Either method you choose, it allows you to watch movie on PSP without costing you too much.
