Cooper-Hewitt: Gilbert Rohde and Design Now - pt.3 of 3

Innovative and furniture designer, little known, Gilbert Rohde (1894 1944), useful in designing clean, modern pieces for every room specializing in house, and its expanded merchandising techniques with Herman Miller laid the foundations for the future as a designer George Nelson and Charles and Ray Eames. In bringing together this panel Phyllis Ross, author of Gilbert Rohde modern design for modern living and two contemporary designers, Ayse Birsel (Birsel + Seck) and Pablo Castro (OBRAArchitects) will recognize the creation of interior and furniture work, Rohde and would be happy for its innovation, flexibility and potential, quality of life through good design to improve. After the presentation of design in a debate moderated by author and design historian Russell Flinchum, the panellists discuss the legacy of Gilbert Rohde, according to their design practice.
